What is Pistachio?

chevron-down

Pistachio is a cybersecurity training platform that is dedicated to empowering individuals and organizations to stay safe in the digital world. Our tailored training program is designed to meet the unique needs and behaviors of each employee, ensuring they receive the knowledge and skills they need to stay protected from cyber threats.

What makes Pistachio different?

chevron-down

For IT admins, Pistachio is fully automated and fully personalized. All you have to do is turn the product on, and your employees will start receiving training and attack simulations automatically. You don’t have to pick out which training to send, you don’t have to group your users, you don’t have to remember to follow up on people. Pistachio handles everything for you.

For end users, Pistachio respects your time. We know you have a job to do, and that is why we send training directly to your inbox. Read the content, click confirm, and you’re done. It’s that easy! And when it comes to our phishing simulations, don’t worry if you fall for one. We want you to! Falling for a simulation is a great way to learn. We will show you what clues you missed, and that’s it.

Why the name Pistachio?

chevron-down

Pistachio Disguisey is the protagonist in the movie The Master of Disguise. Given that Pistachio, the cybersecurity product, is sending “disguised” attacks to people, we thought the name was fitting.

Who is behind Pistachio?

chevron-down

Pistachio is a cybersecurity startup based in Oslo, Norway. We have a total of 25 employees representing 11 different nationalities. We are also growing! If you are looking for a job, please contact us at contact@pistachioapp.com.

Do you support SSO?

chevron-down

Yes! In fact, the only way to log in to Pistachio is via Microsoft SSO.

If we do not have Microsoft Active Directory, can we still use Pistachio?

chevron-down

Unfortunately, today Pistachio only works with Microsoft Active Directory. We plan on adding support for Google in the future.

How do I decide which users are a part of Pistachio?

chevron-down

Create a group in Microsoft Active Directory that contains “pistachio-standard” in the name (not case sensitive). Every user that is a part of that group will also be given a Pistachio license. If Pistachio is turned on, that means the user will automatically start receiving attacks and training content.

Pricing

How does pricing work?

chevron-down

Pistachio charges a fixed price per user. If you sign up online, you will be charged monthly for the amount of users you have in the platform. There are options for setting a maximum number of licenses allowed, so you can protect against accidentally adding more users than you intended to.

How does the free trial work?

chevron-down

The free trial lasts for 14 days after first connecting your Microsoft Active Directory to Pistachio. You can add as many or as few users as you like, and the product is the exact same as the product that you can pay for once the free trial has ended.

How do I activate my subscription?

chevron-down

Ready to get started? Just follow the steps that match your situation:

  1. If you already have a contract with Pistachio and received an access code from our sales reps, simply enter the code on our website to activate your licenses.
  2. If you are new to Pistachio, you'll need to visit our website and enter your payment details to initiate the subscription. Once payment is confirmed, your subscription will be activated, and you can start enjoying all the benefits of Pistachio.

If you encounter any issues during the activation process, please reach out to our customer support team for assistance: contact@pistachioapp.com.

Is support included?

chevron-down

Yes, support is included. At Pistachio, we are committed to providing comprehensive support to our clients. Our tailored training comes with our dedicated support team ready to assist you every step of the way.

I have a problem with my billing. What should I do?

chevron-down

Privacy & Security

Who has admin permissions in Pistachio?

chevron-down

All global administrators in your Microsoft Active Directory tenant will have admin permissions in Pistachio. In addition, any user added to a group in Active Directory that contains “pistachio-admin” in the name (not case sensitive) will also have admin permissions.

You can read more in detail about these permissions here.

Why do you need all of the permissions you ask for?

chevron-down

Pistachio is a product that “just works”. We need permission to read data from your Active Directory in order to automatically onboard new employees, remove old employees, etc. We also need certain permissions in order to ensure we have relevant data that we can use to target simulated attacks. In addition, some of the permissions are needed in order to allow us to deliver the attacks to your employees.

What happens to my data if I run the free trial, and decide not to buy?

chevron-down

After the trial ends, if you would like us to delete the data about your organization, feel free to contact us at privacy@pistachioapp.com and we will comply with your request.

Training

Why am I receiving emails from Pistachio?

chevron-down

Your company has chosen Pistachio for cybersecurity training, and these emails are part of our training initiative. We're delivering valuable insights directly to your inbox to make learning convenient and non-disruptive.

By delivering training content through emails, we ensure that you can engage with the material conveniently from any device. This approach fosters consistent learning and empowers you to build strong cybersecurity habits.

How often will I receive training content from you?

chevron-down

You can expect to receive between one and two training emails each month. This consistent delivery ensures a steady flow of cybersecurity insights and training, allowing you to gradually reinforce your understanding. However, the number of emails will change over time. If you are completing your training and not falling for any of our attack simulations, you’ll start to hear from us less often. After all, we know you have a job to do.

Are these emails a form of phishing or spam?

chevron-down

Absolutely not. The emails you're receiving from Pistachio are legitimate and purposeful. They are part of our cybersecurity training designed to educate and empower you in the realm of online security. If you have doubts, check the link. If it leads to our website you can be sure it is safe.

Do I need to take any action when I receive the training emails?

chevron-down

It's important to read the email, and after you've gone through it, don't forget to confirm that you've read it. This helps us track your progress and ensures you're getting the most out of the material.

Are there any hands-on simulations or practical exercises in the training?

chevron-down

Yes, Pistachio includes phishing attack simulations as a part of its training. These interactive elements allow you to apply your knowledge in real-world scenarios, enhancing your understanding of cybersecurity concepts.

What if I fall for a phishing attack simulation?

chevron-down

Don't worry, our platform is designed to provide a safe environment for learning. If you happen to click on a simulated phishing email, it's a valuable learning opportunity. Our training will guide you on how to recognize phishing cues, and you'll gain practical experience to avoid such situations in real life.

What if I have a question about a specific cybersecurity topic?

chevron-down

We encourage questions! If you have queries about any cybersecurity topic covered in our training, simply reach out to us via our contact page. Our team is here to provide clear explanations and guidance.
